Foetusized's CD & DVD Collection

|
v11.6 -- September 2007
Welcome to my CD and DVD collection listing. I have been buying CDs since 1987, and have amassed quite a collection. When I
last updated these pages, I owned 3422 titles (counting most multiple-disc sets as one unit) and 3848 actual discs. I obtained 61 titles in the past two months month, including twentyfive from eBay or Half.com, nine from a local shops (new and used), eight ordered from Projekt Records, four ordered from Orphaned CDs, four ordered from A Different Drum, four ordered from Head Heritage, three purchased from a used CD store in Cookeville TN (business travel), two purchased from a yard sale, and two Christmas CDs purchased from the local Big Lots discount store. Six of them were three inch CD singles.
The buy of the month was a stack of three CD singles by 10,000 Maniacs, purchased at a local used music shop. They were $1.99 each, for "You Happy Puppet" from 1989, "These are Days" from 1992 (a European limited edition with postcard prints), and "Far and Few Between" from 1993. Getting three out-of-print singles by one of my favorite bands for such a good price really made my day.
I updated the page of snapshots of my CD collection December 2005 with three more photos. The page still has photos from September 2004 and April 2005. The recent additions are a new pair of speakers, my new-to-me Technics SL-1700Mk2 turntable, and the vinyl records that are now cluttering up the floor of the room.
I hope this listing is of use to someone somewhere. An explanation of my format (which I have personally used for years)
follows the links.
NOTE: these discs are not (repeat, ARE NOT) for sale, so please do not contact me to make an offer to buy. I also
have absolutely no interest in trading copies of recordings in violation of copyright laws, so don't bother to ask.
Thanks.

All various artist discs, including tributes, seasonal collections,
label samplers,
genre samplers, charity collections, and most soundtracks (single-artist soundtracks are filed under the artist).
I've only twenty-seven classical discs; three by Henryk Górecki and eight by
Gustav Holst, and eight are from a bargain line of recordings of The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
All DVDs are listed in this section, including those that come bundled with CDs or as part of CD box sets.
The list is divided between
music titles (such as live performances and video clip collections) and
"normal" theatrical movies (including
four TV show sets).
A Short Explanation
These listings are in alphabetical order by artist, and roughly chronological within each artist section. The exception is the few classical discs I own, which are listed at the end of the Various Artists section.
Artist
In most cases, when a band or solo act has used multiple names, all are alphabetized under a primary name. Alternate names are then denoted in italics. The article "the" has been dropped from the front of band names.
Title & year
Discs I have purchased since the last revision are marked as
. When no title appears (just the year), the disc is self-titled. Also, the band name is left out of disc titles, as in The Berry Vest of or Never Mind the Bollocks, here's.
The year is the year of the original release, not for the particular CD issue.
Label & catalogue number
Labels are listed with the originating label first, followed by the releasing label. For instance, 4AD/Rough Trade would be a disc originally issued by 4AD and then licensed/distributed through Rough Trade. The abbreviation following the label name is the country of origin if not the USA.
In most cases, I have dropped the letters "CD" from a catalogue number where it is used to denote the CD release. If you are a serious discographer & need the exact catalogue number, drop me a line. Also, in some cases there is more than one catalogue number on a disc; any secondary id is in parenthesis after the primary number.
Notes
I have developed these abbreviations over several years. Here's a list of most of them if you need some help:
- C/O
- Cut-out. These discs were either purchased used or from a cut-out bin. For an explanation of what cut-out CDs are, please see my article on cut-outs.
- Promo, PromoOnly
- Promo discs were promotional copies, and I also explain how they are marked as such (my article on cut-outs also discusses these discs). PromoOnly are discs that were only released as promotional items and never released to the public. Discs of these types were mostly purchased used, but I have a few review copies I got for free, and some were bought directly from the record label.
- Used
- With the exception of the discs marked with the two notes above, any disc that was purchased used.
- Single
- CD singles with 3 or fewer songs.
- EP
- Short CDs of 4 or more songs. I've also classified some CDs with 2 or 3 songs as EPs when they were not titled for a song on the disc.
- (1 of 2), (2 of 2)
- Multi-part singles (usually imports).
- 3"
- Three inch CD, regardless of the number of songs.
- LP+EP, 3EPs, etc.
- CDs that compile together several shorter releases.
- 2LP
- CDs that were originally double LPs.
- 2ex., 3ex., Ex.
- CDs with bonus tracks. The number of extra tracks is shown if it is known.
- 2discs, 3discs, etc.
- Multiple disc sets.
- Import
- Imported discs. I live in the US, so these are all non-US releases. The country of origin should follow the label name.
- Live
- Live recordings.
- Boot
- Bootleg recordings. I have not tried to separate true bootlegs from semi-legal imports. The source of the boot (live, demo) should also be noted.
- Comp., RemixComp.
- Compilations of all sorts; only compilations of remixes are specially denoted.
- CD-ROM, CD-ROM(Mac)
- Discs that have both music and some sort of CD-ROM data.
- BMG, RCA, CRC
- Discs which show somewhere on the cover that they were manufactured by one of the CD clubs.
- Lmt.Ed.
- A limited edition of some sort. If numbered, the number is shown.
- DDD, DAD, ADD
- SPARS codes (remember when all discs had these?) -- only noted when it is not AAD.
- 70+, 80!
- Exceptionally long CDs.
