The Story
This disc was recorded in 1993 on the band's "Music for Lawyers" tour at the San Diego date,
during their second lawsuit over the U2 EP, and includes
most of the material from that EP. It was recorded with an open microphone toward the back of the
audience (one can hear the pool tables in the back of the Belly Up Tavern being used) on
DAT and transferred to CD without any mixing, so the sound quality is poor and the volume is
relativly low. It includes two discs, and features a play-by-play description of what was
happening on stage during different songs, as Negativland is a rather performance-art visual
sort of band.
It was released in a mechanically numbered edition of less than ten thousand copies; no unnumbered
copies are known to exist. $5 from the sale of each copy was anonymously donated to
Negativland's legal defense fund. Despite the poor sound quality, it remains the only recording
available from the band's 1993 tour. There is no listed record label, and it bears the catalog
number 180G.
My Copy
I bought my copy for $15 from a used CD store in Knoxville in 1995; $15 was their standard price
for double CDs. I had not heard of this release until I bought my copy. It is number #0993.
The Value
No copies have changed hands recently on eBay.
